Report Cards are every nine weeks. Here is a list of what your child will be graded on through the year:
What to expect your child to learn in kindergarten.. .
LANGUAGE ARTS
How to locate the title, author and illustrator of a book.
How to track (follow) print from left to right and top to bottom.
How to point to words with one-to-one matching.
The names of the alphabet, uppercase and lowercase letters.
The sounds for the alphabet.
The sounds for the long and short vowels.
Recognize words that start with the same sounds.
Blend sounds into words. /c/ /a/ /t/ cat.
Read simple words. (Mom, dog, rug, etc.)
Read 25 sight words. (a, the, of, that, etc.)
Use pictures to make predictions about stories.
Listen to and retell stories.
Able to answer questions about characters, setting & key events in texts.
WRITING
Your child will write their first and last name with appropriate letter formations.
Your child will write the letters of the alphabet correctly.
Your child should write from left to right and top to bottom.
Your child will write simple sentences by using sounds they hear in words.
Listening and speaking
Able to follow multi-step directions.
Can share information, ideas, speaks clearly in complete sentences.
Uses descriptive language.
Math
Counts by ones to 25 or more
Write numbers one to 25
Puts numbers in order.
Simple addition and subtraction problems
Understands measurement concepts and vocabulary.
Identifies shapes-square, circle, triangle, rectangle.
Calendar
Names the days of the week
Names the months of the year
